Broadcasters

Why would you want to broadcast on the web too?

  • Break-out of the living room. -- Unless your viewers live alone then they are unlikely to be able to watch your broadcasts all of the time. By giving them broadband access they can be watching your channel in any room of the house, bedroom, Kitchen or even the garden.

  • Get to know your audience "personally" -- Even if you are BARB rated, how much do you really know about your viewers. By asking viewers to register to see your broadcast you can collect valuable viewer information, that you could use to run targeted marketing campaign or help build business cases for channel developments.

Are you planning to start broadcasting?

  • Do you have a great idea for a TV station?
  • Are you in the process of raising funds to launch to Satellite?
  • Do you need to prove your audience to get funding?

If the answer to any of these questions is YES then launching on broadband gives you:

  • Low cost launch -- Broadband distribution costs are 10% of traditional satellite space segments
  • Access to millions of viewers -- There are now more people with access to broadband then satellite in the UK
  • Different viewers -- Get your content to viewers do can't or don't have acccess over traditional channels

Generate new revenue streams

  • Advertising revenues from introductory (Pre-stream adverts); increases in website activity; or from increasing sales to your existing advertisers. You get accurate numbers of visitors too
  • Channel subscriptions – if you already provide a subscription channel then this can be replicated using a digital right management (DRM) software platform
  • Database marketing to your viewers – if every viewer signs up then you can e-mail and SMS market directly to them
  • Interactive adverts – because HTML is much more interactive than current red button services, faster and more specific interactivity is both low cost and highly effective
  • New-sub channels of exclusive content; multiple camera angles of live shows or event; Web cam of your radio studio that you can actually watch; or just a run of you’re your normal channel one hour behind
  • On-line gaming / gambling – programme specific games based on pseudo lottery principles
  • On-line sales merchandising – use your channel brand to sell product such as t-shirts, CD’s or specific featured products from within your programmes
  • Pay Per View content – provide additional content on a pay per view basis, generating instant revenue
  • Programme or channel sponsorship – because broadband is not subject to OFCOM rules for sponsorship, brand your channel with your advertisers logos
  • Text Voting – generate SMS revenue by running polls related to your content (example- should this character be killed off or not)
  • Web specific video requests – if you already provide a txt number for viewers to select a video, create a unique web number and directly relate revenues to web viewers
